The Bassins du Havre: a vision is taking shape
MONTREAL, Feb. 16, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Développement des Bassins Inc., a partnership between Prével Group, Rachel Julien, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Claridge, officially launched Pier 2, which constitutes the second phase of the Bassins du Havre: a remarkable real estate project located along the Lachine canal in Griffintown. This new phase will be built just east of Pier 1, which is currently under construction. "Our clients will be pleased to see that the construction of the first phase is now at its cruising speed. It's an all new neighbourhood that is becoming an exceptional living environment. It offers tranquility and proximity to downtown, and it is literally taking shape before our eyes," declared Jacques Vincent, copresident of Prével Group. The construction of Pier 1 started last December, and the site is already buzzing with activity. "Dozens of workers are on site every day, building what will become, once completed, a new neighbourhood of more than 1,800 housing units on the Lachine canal. At the end of the twelve phases planned in the project, 4,600 jobs will have been created or maintained," affirmed Mr. Normand Bélanger, president and CEO of the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ. The delivery of the Pier 1 units is scheduled for the fall of 2013. Pier 2, for its part, was designed following feedback on the launch of the first phase. It will offer a greater proportion of two- or three-bedroom units while keeping with the concept of town houses, thus providing an undeniable asset for families that want to settle down. Pier 2 is scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2014; it will have eight floors, with 107 units of up to 2,680 square feet in size. The sales office is also getting a makeover for the occasion. The model units have been completely redesigned to offer a broader range of material choices for interior finishing. "We listened to our customers, and they are now more able to help design their future homes according to their aspirations in this unique place that will be the Bassins du Havre neighbourhood" added Mr. Denis Robitaille, president of Rachel Julien. "We are proud to partner with Prével and Rachel Julien, two experienced promoters known for the quality of their projects. They have demonstrated a vanguard spirit and an innovative vision for the revitalisation of this neighbourhood. Our investment reflects our confidence and support for our partners" declared Mr. Gideon Pollack, Vice President, Business Development, at Claridge. "The Bassins du Havre project puts forward an urban lifestyle that is respectful of the environment and heritage. With the beginning of the construction and the launch of Pier 2, this cutting edge vision is taking shape for the benefit of the Sud-Ouest Borough and the City of Montreal," concluded Mr. Benoît Dorais, mayor of the Sud-Ouest borough.
